Flaherty & Collins Properties of Indianapolis, in a joint venture with The Ghazi Company, has begun construction on the 53 story residential tower and retail/entertainment center in the heart of downtown Charlotte known as the Epicenter.
Southeast Integration Services was awarded the contract on the controls side of the project. The Ghazi Company bought the old convention center building and land in late 2005. The nine lower floors of the residential tower will house four levels of parking and 5 levels of offices and stores. Included in this are a 10-screen movie theater, and an assortment of restaurants, bars, and shops.
“We are thrilled by the possibilities that this project opens up for our company in Charlotte. A project of this scale and magnitude will be a welcoming challenge and a great opportunity for Southeast Integration Services to establish itself firmly in the controls market in Charlotte.” stated Tom McConnell, CEO of Southeast Integration Services.
Ghazi said the entire project is expected to exceed one million square feet in all five buildings. The retail/entertainment portion is valued at about 90 million dollars alone.
